Wire-Cut EDM Specimen Coring
Test specimens are extracted directly from the finished part using the wire-cut EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) process. This ensures the test data represents the actual part as manufactured, including any effects of forging, machining, or heat treatment.
Tensile Testing
Determines a material's yield strength and ultimate tensile strength. Specimens are cored from the part itself using wire-cut EDM and tested in X, Y, and Z orientations - giving a complete picture of material performance under real-world loading conditions.
Hardness Testing
Establishes the hardness of metals and alloys to confirm durability and wear resistance. Critical for parts that undergo heat treatment, where hardness values must fall within a defined range to guarantee performance in service.
Impact Testing
Measures a material's toughness and resistance to sudden shock loads. Carried out under controlled temperatures including −20°C to confirm performance in cold-climate applications, validating compliance with international standards.
Chemical Composition Analysis
Provides a detailed analysis of the material's chemical composition, ensuring the use of the correct alloys and materials. Particularly important for stainless steel and high-grade structural steels where material substitution is a risk in overseas supply chains.
CMM & Dimensional Inspection
All parts are dimensionally verified against customer drawings using gauge checks, go/no-go gauges, thread gauges, and CMM inspection where specified. Full dimensional reports are included with every shipment as standard documentation.
Crack Detection & Structural Integrity Testing.
For safety-critical parts, particularly forged components used in hydraulic and structural applications, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is essential. Donlouco has access to a full suite of NDT methods, allowing us to detect internal and surface defects without damaging the part.
Fluorescence magnetic particle inspection is a visual inspection method to detect cracks or imperfections in forged or cast parts. It can also be used to inspect other parts where these defects need to be detected. The part must be manufactured from a ferrous material for an effective inspection method.

Rough CNC Machining
Following forging, the part underwent rough CNC Machining to remove excess material and bring it toward its final geometry. This process involved removing excess material with precision to prepare the trunnion for heat treatment while maintaining tight tolerances.
Heat Treatment
The forged and rough-machined trunnion was then heat-treated to enhance its mechanical properties. This process improved hardness, tensile strength, and overall durability, ensuring the trunnion could withstand extreme operational stresses in its final application.
Final CNC Machining
After heat treatment, the trunnion underwent a final CNC machining process. This involved precision cutting to achieve the exact dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes required by the customers specifications.
In-House + Independent SGS Testing
The completed trunnion underwent full in-house inspection including dimensional checks and hardness testing, followed by independent SGS verification covering tensile testing (X, Y, Z orientations), impact testing, hardness, and chemical composition analysis.
